This graph gives an overview of all the information derived from the CRLs, based on all CRLs that have been observed so far.
Note that this link provides an overview of many more graphs than this page...
The curves should be interpreted as follows:
- the number of cards produced so far is derived from the number of distinct eID card certificates we have observed (a Certification Authority (CA) issues two certificates per eID card)
- the number of cards that have been activated is derived from the number of certificates that are know to have been disappeared from the CRLs. When a CA issues a new certificate, it puts that certificate's serial number on the CRL, indicating that it must be kept on hold. Only when the citizen collects his/her eID card, the certificate is removed from the CRL, i.e., the certificate becomes active
- the estimated number of distributed cards reflects the number of eID cards of which we assume that they have been distributed to citizens. This number is based on the most recently obtained official figures on the number of eID cards that have been issued to citizens, combined with the number of cards that have been activated according to graph 2. As the graphs 2 and 3 are almost parallel, the estimated number of distributed eID cards is very likely to be accurate
- the number of cards that are currently active shows the total number of eID cards that have been issued to citizens and that have not been revoked so far
- the number of eID cards that have not yet been activated is the number of eID cards that are kept on hold based on the current CRLs
- the number of eID cards that have been revoked summarizes the total number of eID cards that have been revoked so far. This number includes eID cards that had to be revoked due to production errors that happened after the CA had issued a new certificate, but also due to citizens who did not want the eID card's signing functionality, etc.
